Former Mayoral Candidate Ja’Mal Green Endorses Vallas for Mayor

Aldermen Lee, Nugent, Silverstein, Incoming Ald. Lawson Also Endorse Vallas

The Vallas for Mayor campaign released several new endorsements today, headlined by former mayoral contender Ja’Mal Green and several members of the City Council. Green appeared with Vallas at a press conference earlier today where he outlined several specific policy goals that the two share, as well as why he believes that Brandon Johnson is unprepared to serve as Mayor.

“Paul and I don’t agree on everything, but I know that he is someone who will listen, compromise and find common ground on how we can move our city forward,” said Green. “This is not a decision that I made lightly, but it’s one based on policy, on investments into our communities, and on the candidate who I believe is best equipped to serve as Mayor, which is Paul Vallas.”

Earlier this morning three influential women leaders on the City Council and one incoming member all pledged their support for Vallas, with Aldermen Nicole Lee, Samantha Nugent, Debra Silverstein and incoming Alderman Bennett Lawson endorsing the lifelong Democrat for Mayor. The four new endorsements add to the long list of supporters from across all local communities who are supporting Vallas for Mayor. At the event Vallas also offered his support to Alderman Lee in her upcoming runoff election.

“I’m grateful to see our coalition continue to grow and to have more and more prominent city leaders joining our team,” said Vallas. “I’m running for Mayor because our city is in a leadership crisis, because public safety needs to be treated as a human right and because our children deserve a better public education. Working with leaders like Ja’Mal Green, Aldermen Lee, Nugent, Silverstein and Lawson will help make all of those priorities possible.”
