Plumbers Local 130 Endorses Vallas for Mayor

Major Labor Union Hails Candidate’s Record on Supporting Union Labor

The Vallas for Mayor campaign is announcing another significant endorsement, with Plumbers Local 130 confirming its support for the front running candidate for Mayor. One of the city’s most politically influential labor unions, Plumbers Local 130 previously supported Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s campaign but is now the first union to endorse Vallas in the runoff election.

“We support Paul Vallas for Mayor as he clearly recognizes and values the importance of the work of the 6,000+ skilled labor force of our Plumbers Local 130 UA to the City of Chicago,” said Jim Coyne, Local 130 Business Manager. “Paul understands and supports the Plumbers License Law, and the City of Chicago Plumbing Code, which is the strictest in the nation. It is because of these Codes, that the health of the nation including the City of Chicago is protected. We know we can count on Paul to support Plumbers Local 130 as Mayor.”

Vallas has announced several major momentum-building endorsements since last week’s election. He is being supported by former Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White, Alderman Walter Burnett, former Chicago School Board President Gery Chico and more.

“I’m thankful to the men and women of Plumbers Local 130 for supporting our campaign to put our city back on the right track,” said Vallas. “Chicago is a union city and I’ve always been a proud supporter of our labor unions including Local 130 because they have been the gateway to the middle class for generations. As Mayor I will ensure that working men and women share in the investments we will make in our city and that everyone in our community will benefit.”
