Aldermen Harris, Beale, Moore, Curtis, Mitts Join Team Vallas
The Vallas for Mayor campaign rolled out a new group of endorsers in the African American community Thursday, headlined by a group of Aldermen from the city’s South and West sides as well as former State Senate President Emil Jones.
Aldermen Michelle Harris, Anthony Beale, David Moore, Derrick Curtis, Emma Mitts, Walter Burnett, Roderick Sawyer and Jones gathered at a South Side restaurant to announce their support for Paul Vallas for Mayor.
“As Mayor I will invest in the South and West sides of our city to finally break the chain of poverty and neglect that has gripped these communities for too long,” said Vallas. “I’m honored to have the support of these distinguished leaders who always fight for their constituents, and I look forward to working alongside them for our city’s future.”
Today’s endorsements today add to the numerous supporters announced by the Vallas campaign this week, including Aldermen Matt O’Shea, Raymond Lopez, Silvana Tabares, Felix Cardona, Jr., Ariel Reboyras, Nicole Lee, Samantha Nugent, Debra Silverstein and incoming Alderman Bennett Lawson. Vallas also announced the support of former mayoral candidate Ja’Mal Green as well as Firefighters Local 2 and several construction trade unions.
